While Buying a Laptop – Check these Technical Requirements

You all need a laptop at some point in life. You may need it for your personal reasons or business purposes. Well, whatever the reason you want to buy a laptop, making the right decision is very hard, thanks to the gazillion number of laptops available in the market. Nowadays, most of the activities are done online, so the demand for laptops has tremendously increased.

Several big companies are out there like Dell and Lenovo that sell different types of laptops. As each laptop offers various features, it confuses your mind, about which one suits your needs and budget.

As long as you want to buy a laptop for personal use, you may not bother to pay attention to the minutest details like processor, operating system, and other technical features. You will probably use it for writing some text or emailing and watching videos.

However, when you need it for business purposes, you will have to pay more attention to all details to ensure that it will solve the purpose you are buying. If you are planning to buy a laptop, here are some tips that will help you make the right decision quickly.

#1 Operating system

There are generally three types of operating systems: Windows, Chrome OS, or Mac OS. It is tough to pick up a laptop with the right OS based on your needs and budget. Most of the laptops come with Windows OS that comes with built-in protection for your data. Further, it is considered reliable and secure. Whether you need a laptop for your studies or business, you can buy a laptop with Windows OS.

However, remember that not all software applications are compatible with all operating systems because a program that requires Windows 10 enterprise may not work on Windows 10 professionals. While buying a laptop, make sure that you are clear about your requirements.

Mac OS also offers the same features as Windows 10, but it provides some advanced features like touch screens that make your overall use far more convenient. Google OS are more straightforward and safer than Windows and Mac OS, but they are minimal. Chromebooks are portable and generally popular among students and parents as they are not as subject to malware risk as Windows and Macbooks.

#2 Core Processor

The processor is the most integral part of a laptop or a PC. It has a significant impact on the performance of your laptop. There are several core processors you can find within your budget, but each of them has different capabilities and features. Intel 10th Gen is the latest and best processor. It comes in two forms: Ice Lake and Comet Lake. The former offers improved integrated graphics, and the latter focuses on raw performance.

Likewise, the Intel Core i9 provides faster performance. However, it is generally suitable for workstations and premium laptops. You should spend on the Core i9 processor if you are using heavy software applications. If you use the Core i7 Y series, you will likely have low performance. Therefore, try to use the processor that is part of the 10th generation. You can get to know about them by seeing 10 in their model number.

If you need a laptop to handle big projects like 3D modeling, and video editing, you will need a powerful processor like Intel Xeon. Now you must have got to know each processor has different features and aligns with different goals. When you buy a laptop, let me know how you will use your laptop so that you get what fulfils your purpose.

#3 RAM and Storage

RAM and storage play a crucial role in deciding whether your laptop will fulfil your purpose or not. The amount of RAM you need depends on the software applications you want to run at the same time. The larger the applications, the higher the RAM will be. As long as you want to use a laptop for emailing and watching videos, you do not need RAM for more than 2GB, but if you are running professional software like Photoshop and AutoCAD, you will need higher RAM like 8GB.

Similarly, you will need high storage if you need a laptop for professional use. However, sometimes you may need high storage even if you are storing videos and files. SSD is better than HDD because it performs a task within a fraction of a second. However, it is costlier than HDD.

#4 Battery Life

Battery life is what you often overlook while buying a laptop. A good laptop must have at least 7 hours of endurance, especially when you are using a portable laptop. Before choosing the laptop, be careful about battery life. If you have to use it at a desk, you may not need to worry about it. If you use your laptop while travelling, this must be a concern.

Buying a laptop is never easy if you do not have any basic knowledge, but you can pick the best one if you are already clear with your specifications. However, do not forget to make a budget. Likely, you fall short of cash as your requirements may cost you a fortune, but you can take out instalment loans for bad credit to cover up the money gap.
